Digital Architecture uses computer modeling, programming, simulation and imaging to create both virtual forms and physical structures. It becomes increasingly popular in today’s architecture field all over the world. This book is aimed to report the progress of digital architecture design in China. It will include four parts—understanding of digital architecture, digital design practice, future and possibility of digital architecture, and chronology of digital architecture in the world. The first and third part will be a conclusion of digital architecture design development in an easy-to-understand way. In the second part, more than thirty outstanding projects from the most influential architects in China will be reported in a very detailed way. With full color pictures and detailed technical drawings, the book is far more than an academic one. By reading the book, it will more like visiting a vivid Chinese digital architecture exhibition.
About The Author:
Xu Weiguo is a professor and chair of Architecture Department at school of architecture in Tsinghua University. He was a visiting scholar at MIT in 2007 and taught in SCI-Arc and USC in USA in 2011-2012. He studied architecture at Tsinghua University, and then started teaching at the same institution before moving to Japan to work for Murano Mori Architects. He was awarded his doctorate from Kyoto University in Japan. On returning to China, he established his own architectural practice (XWG) in Beijing. He is a representative architect of digital architecture in China.
